Howl Against Hunger…

I am Howling with Joy…

This past Friday night, I hosted a “Set the Table” fundraising event for Feeding America which I dubbed Howl Against Hunger.

Food security (insecurity) issues are REAL here in America.  In a nation with vast resources and as wealthy as America, it is shameful that people go hungry.  In fact, 47 million people in America suffer from food security issues.

That’s 1 in 7 people who do not know when they’ll have their next meal.

Hunger doesn’t discriminate… it doesn’t care about your race, color, or gender.  It doesn’t care if you’re young or old.  Everyone is at risk.

Through the generosity of this group of beautiful of people and a few others, who unfortunately we not able to join us at the Howl Against Hunger table, we raised $555.00.  That is HUGE and my heart is truly filled with joy.

Howl Against Hunger

In Feeding America language, $555.00 translates to 6,110 meals.  For perspective, 6,110 meals will feed one person 3 meals per day for roughly five and a half years.  How is this possible you ask?  Well, that is a very good question!

Feeding America has a network of 200 food banks and 60,000 food pantries nationwide.  It is the resources that are stored in these food banks and pantries that make it possible for $1.00 to provide 11 meals.  Yes, just $1.00 = 11 meals!

Feeding America ranks number 12 on the list of top 100 charities on Charity Navigator.   At Feeding America, 98 % of all donations raised go directly into programs and services for people in need.

Again, many thanks to my very generous friends for making
Howl Against Hunger a wild success and
for helping relieve hunger in America.
You inspire me!
