OMW… Oh My Word! It’s already the end of January and honestly I’m not sure where the month went, but time is flying by and for football fans that means it’s time for the Super Bowl. When I think of the Super Bowl, I’m not really interested in which rival teams will meet on the field to battle in the mega event of the NFL season, or the actual game of football itself. No… For me it’s about the half-time entertainment, the commercials and of course the food. I think some delicious super bowls should be on the roster for the Super Bowl 50 festivities.
Open the concession stand and kick off the game with a bowl of guacamole which will score big as a snacking fave during the first and second quarters (if it lasts that long). The addition of tomatillos gives guacamole a nice tangy kick.
On the field for the half time event try a bowl of this south of the border classic, Posole Verde. I think you’ll find it scores a touchdown with your fans. The lush flavors of slow cooked meat hit up against the chewy posole (also known as hominy) for a well executed play. Tackle the bowl by garnishing it with radishes and/or shredded cabbage for a nice crunch and add some cilantro and a squeeze of lime for brightness. Your home team will be singing you praises!
And regardless of whether or not our favored team is winning or losing, ending the game on a sweet note is a sure bet. This Caramel Fudge Ripple Ice Cream with Honey Roasted Peanut Blondies is the winning play!
And there you have it – my Super Bowl picks for Super Bowl 50!
Super Bowls… thanks for visiting Palatable Life.
Be inspired,
